We dogs

We love dogs and owning one is a joyous experience, but it’s not without its challenges.

From socialisation struggles to toilet training, aggression and anxious episodes, we’ve seen them all – and the effects they have on both us and our furry friends.

At Four Paws, we take a dog-centric approach

We all want our dogs to be part of the family, obedient, and well-behaved. However, dogs aren't plug-and-play. Very much like children, they need clear expectations, boundaries, regular exercise, and a sense of purpose… and we’re here to help you establish that.

Warmly welcoming any breed, of any age with any behavioural hang-ups or trauma
We take the time to understand what works for your special dog, what motivates and inspires them. Our goal is to help you get to know your pooch even better and understand how to manage their quirks and triggers with positive reinforcement only (there's no nasty stuff around here).

It’s not a 'one size fits all' approach
Our dogs are just as unique as we are, so we tailor all our programmes to get the best out of them and see what they can do.

When it comes to changed behaviour, the best results for any dog are in consistency and hard work. Once they’ve learned with us, we support you to keep the training going. We set you both up for success with any post-paws training and support you and your dog require – we’re here if you need us.

After all, every day is a school day!

How It Works

1.

Fill In Our Online Booking Form

If you’re in need of a helping hand (or paw), head over to our Booking Form and fill out your and your dog’s details.

2.

We’ll Arrange a Call

One of our team will be in touch to discuss your concerns and may ask further questions to suggest the most suitable plan and trainer to suit your dog. (We know it can be daunting, but the more honest you are with us, the better we can help!).

3.

Let The Training Begin

Once your dog is in the hands of one of our competent trainers, they’ll go the extra mile to get to know them, work on the problem at hand and help you build a stronger bond with your dog.

4.

Ongoing Support

Like we all know, you can’t hit a reset button on a dog and there’s no magic stick to wave either, they require continuous training and a little patience to flourish. So, we provide ongoing support if you need it. Read more about our ‘wrap-around’ care!

Four Paws are amazing! Karen was training my 4-year old King Charles Cavalier to be less anxious, heel walk and recall and she did an amazing job. I'm so happy we used Four Paws for the 3-week training! I almost never leave reviews but I am so happy with the training I thought it was only fair to leave a review praising Karen (and the team)!

We cannot recommend Four Paws Training enough. We sent our 2-year old rescue dog Campo who was reactive to nearly everything, people, cars and other dogs. He went to Steve & Tristan who have worked their magic on him & both worked so hard in the four weeks they had him, on those issues. We got daily videos of him which reassured us that he was happy with them & also means we can look back at them for tips on how to continue the training now we have him home. The communication from the team, has been excellent from the initial phone call with Tracy through to having Campo home. We were always made fully aware of what was happening and his progress. 5* review is not enough for this company and everyone in it. Thank you again.

Our puppy was nervous off everyone and everything and barked and backed away, including anyone coming in to our home. After 3-weeks residential training, she is a different dog. She doesn't bark at anyone or anything she walks past. We can have visitors into our home and she will greet them and want attention. She is still nervous of some people, but we are working through it. We know how to correct her if she becomes nervous and with reassurance I am sure she will become a happy and confident dog. Whilst she was away, we received daily videos of her trying to help us understand how to move forward with her. We also have continued support - we can send videos to get advice. We will use Four Paws again when we go away, so that they can continue her training as she gets older.

We are absolutely delighted with the service we received from Steve and the team. We sent them our 6 month old XL Titch, who was very fearful and anxious of the world around her. Steve and his team have worked miracles. We received daily updates on her progress and tips for us to follow on her return. I walked Titch today following her training and using the tips we have received and the improvement was amazing. Thank you Steve!! We will continue with her training and are looking forward to sending her back to continue her training in May.

Looked after Harvey for 14-days when we were away - collected and dropped back lots of communication and photos. Lots of walks and pampering. Would recommend.

Paul and the team at Four Paws were fantastic. I was abroad when Chambers needed some special medical attention and the care he received was excellent!

The team were very professional and offered a lot of advice and support throughout the process. My Bear was whisked off for two weeks but there was a continuous stream of updates via WhatsApp with videos of training. Bear came back a better dog and I had to continue with his training or he would quickly go back to his bad habits. The team worked very well with socialising Bear too which was great as this was also a problem area. All in all I would definitely recommend this board/training. Thank you.

Amazing guys. All of them. Very reassuring. Plenty of videos. Ripley was so well looked after. Not once did I worry. And they handled us very well with our barrage of questions. We only hope we can continue as well. Thanks so much.

Working with four paws has been great. A relief to finally find someone you trust. I feel like I can relax when Steve and the team have our GSD Lyra. 100% will continue to use them.

Our puppy Charlie went for two weeks on-board training for puppies to Christine. We have been updated daily about her progress and all our question have always been answered. We noticed huge difference after the training, she is much more confident around other dogs and crowds what was very important to us and she mastered basic obedience. It's very easy to follow on the training now, because Christine explained to us how we should continue in the training. Great service!

our Trainers

Four Paws takes a more in-depth approach to training your dog, compared to alternative training companies.

Because every dog and owner are different, being assigned the right trainer is an essential first step. There’s not one solution for all, which is why our trainer’s experience is just as important as their levels of qualifications.

All our trainers are very carefully vetted by us and accredited to the top of their game, but we also value extensive experience in years, across different breeds, and most importantly, with different dog behaviours. For this reason, we will allocate the best trainer for your dog, depending on the issues at hand.
